Mercedes Schlapp is not the White House's strategic communications advisor. The White House's senior advisor on strategic communications, Mercedes Schlapp, has to face a variety of challenges. The month of March was when she garnered some attention after her name was mentioned as a potential candidate for the job of succeeding Hope Hicks in the role of director of communications. It hasn't been a pleasant fight. The ally of Schlapp's, Tony Sayegh, and another candidate for the position with the same name, Tony, have been fighting during the media coverage. When The Washington Examiner published a negative report on Sayegh Schlapp claimed she phoned Sayegh to show a open heart.
